A Really Great Day!
Oooo yea, I pass all my modules!!! (1 distinction, 3 credits and 1 pass)... So freaking happy that I passed Peter Sutton module which focuses on C programming in Unix ... Yucks... No more of such stuff for the rest of my life... =)
Went city with Edward in the afternoon and did some final shopping...=) As he wanted to head to some xxx shop in Taringa...hahaz... I headed back to Indooroopilly alone... As I was loitoring around Indooroopilly shopping mall, I bumped into Dena, the girl living next to my room... She has just went to the gym and was carrying a big plastic bag with her... Offered to carried for her for the rest of the trip back to the lodge... In between, we did some shopping before heading back to the lodge... It was today that I got to know her better coz she's been rather noisy initially when she speaks...hahaz... I can hear her from my room... She's a material engineering undergraduate from imperial college in UK and is currently on a few weeks attachment in UQ... Imperial college actually sponsored her for this trip and also the previous trip to the states... Well, she's the smart and diligent kind as she's third in the cohort in the last semester out of 70 students in imperial college... Woah, they actually have ranking in university... haz... (I got to know this only later in the night at the Three Monkeys Cafe at West End)
Dinner was interesting: a Japanese (a female translator and she has a electronic translator pad with her), a German (a computer scientist, Ooo..should have gotten him to help me in my unix lab if he arrive earlier!!!), a South African (Obrey!!! Yea, I like him a lot... He's a research fellow at UQ from University of Cape Town in South Africa), a Maldive guy (just arrived yesterday to study HR in UQ, he said he saw the Tsunami coming when it struck as his office is at the coastal area!), a Hong Konger, my dear room mate , defoe and a Middle East guy who came over here to study (lent him the electrical plug on the first day he arrived) and yea, last but not least, Dena...
We went the pub at indooroopilly hotel at about 9 plus and met John, his gf and Piero there... The big screen was showing the rugby match between Queensland and New South Wales... Ahhh.... Queensland was losing big time: was 32 : 0 when we left the pub after 20-30 minutes... Headed to West End in the end with Defoe and Dena... Oh yea, defoe drove us there...=) Had a really good chat at the cafe over a cup of hot coffee... Feels really good... =) She's born in Iraq but shifted to UK when she was 2... We spoke a little abt Sisha too, arabic pipe smoking as cafe has some of them on display... She arabic but looks pretty european to me... She's amazed that I know much more about the royal family than she does...hahaz... All in all, it was really a culturally enriching conversation! After returning, I showed her some photos of Sydney as she will be flying over for a 4-day trip while defoe passed her a map of Sydney... Will be eating pan cakes at St Luke Church tomorrow with her and the rest tomorrow... The last time we will meet till ... she visit S'pore or I visit London in the near future... Oh yea... she's freaking happy that London won the 2012 Olympic bid... She suggested that we can make a booking to London now... Woah, she exuded so much confidence for her country... Yea... London will do a great job manz... All the best to her trip to Sri Lanka and India after her attachment... Till we meet then... but there is always msn and skpe that bridge the geographical barrier in this global environment... I felt great today... Been a little tired now after all the packing... Got to try to sleep now... Ciaozzz!!!
